What is the Tomorrow We Want to Prompt With AI?

AI for What? A Pragmatic Optimist’s Take

I often say I’m an AI optimist—but more accurately, I’m a pragmatic AI optimist.

Yes, I believe in the transformative potential of AI. From revolutionizing healthcare to designing more elegant solutions to climate, homelessness, hunger—AI offers us an incredible toolkit.

We can unlock new levels of creativity, impact, and efficiency—individually and collectively.

But here’s the truth: AI isn’t the complicated part. We are.

We’ve had the resources to feed, clothe, and house everyone on the planet for decades. The reason we haven’t isn’t due to a lack of tech—it’s human systems, choices, and priorities.

That’s why I started asking a simple but powerful question:

What is the future we want to prompt?

AI can help us move faster and do more. But to what end?

What do we want to build—for ourselves, our families, our teams, our communities?

The changes AI brings will echo for generations. We must have the conversations now—not just about what AI can do, but what we want it to do.

We won’t get it all right. We may never reach utopia. But if we stay grounded, intentional, and deeply human in how we engage with AI—we can move forward with purpose.

Let’s prompt the future we want to see.
